Based upon the confirmed repair method, the parts and repair operations should be reflected within the assessment, ensuring that all operations are included. Early investigations have confirmed that it is not always clear within the body of the text on the printed assessment that all required operations are included. If the VDA is unclear whether an operation has been included by the Audatex software, the VDA should always select the required operation. The logic contained within the Audatex system will remove duplication of operations already included although in rare instances a vehicle manufacturer's data may include a part displacement rather than full removal. In these cases, users are advised to carefully consider and choose the most appropriate repair method and reflect this in the Audatex estimate.
Fundamentally this is an ongoing data development improvement process which we are proactively pursuing. In order to leverage the enhanced underlying data, software changes will also need to be made. The Technical Committee has considered a number of options to improve transparency and provide details of the included sub-operations. These are currently being considered with Audatex Core Development. No timescales are available at this time.
