PSA Peugeot Citroen have recently confirmed that where the protective zinc coating is removed from body panels during the repair or replacement panel process, the coating should be re-instated using the DALIC Selective Plating System.
The DALIC plating kit is available from Peugeot and Citroen parts stockists together with the consumable pack, which includes zinc plating solution, gloves and application pads.
The application time for the electroplating process is not currently included within the Manufacturer/Audatex panel or paint schedule repair time and should be manually entered in Zone 99. A guide time to apply the plating to the first panel is 2 – 3 work units, including set up and clean away and 1 – 2 work units for any additional panels depending upon the size of the required plating area.
The plating process should be carried out in accordance with the instructions issued by DALIC UK Ltd which includes the disconnection of the battery prior to commencing the procedure. The battery disconnection/reconnection time together with any resets required are not included within the guide times quoted above.
Where body filler is to be used the filler may be applied directly to bare metal areas, with electroplating applied to surrounding exposed bare metal areas prior to the application of primer filler.
Where inner panel surfaces have restricted access preventing the application of the zinc coating, conventional paint and anticorrosion treatments should be applied.
